Revision Reconstruction

What is revision reconstruction?

Once the breast reconstruction process has been concluded, women may become dissatisfied with their results for several reasons. Autologous or breasts reconstructed from the patient’s own tissue become saggy and droopy over time just like real breasts. Breasts reconstructed with implants may become firm over time, implants can rupture, ripple, or rotate. Revision options include replacing implants with other implants, replacing implants with a flap (autologous technique), or performing other corrective procedures such as breast lift or breast reduction.

When is a revision reconstruction recommended?

A revision reconstruction is recommended when the patient is dissatisfied with their reconstructed breasts for any reason. The type of procedure that will be used in the revision will depend on the source of the patient’s dissatisfaction and also on the patient’s new cosmetic goals.

What are the benefits of a revision reconstruction?

A revision reconstruction will allow you to fall in love with your breasts once again. Maybe you loved your naturally beautiful flap reconstructed breasts but with time and gravity, they have become saggy and droopy? A breast lift would be able to correct that. Maybe you love your implants but they have become too firm? It’s time to upgrade to new implants and you can reconsider your ideal size at this time.

Whatever you’re unhappy with, it can be fixed with a revision procedure so that once again you can love yourself and your body.
